Rules and Regulations
ELIGIBILITY and SUBMISSIONS
We are open to anybody who wishes to participate.
All submitting participants agree that the sole and final judgment as to all
matters concerning contests and interpretation of contest rules are at
the sole discretion of mirthwhile.com, its owners, and its
staff. We use the viewers' ratings to help us judge all the entries, except the Humor Essays.
In the Humor Essays contest, we can decide against naming the winners if the entries are not satisfactory, in our judgement. However, we might announce the Noteworthy Notables in the same contest, if we feel that some of the entries came close to being the winner.
You must email your entry to submissions@mirthwhile.com as a Microsoft
Word document (the file extension should be .doc), font size 11 or 12 points,
Times New Roman, 2 line spacing. [contact us if you have problems sending us the entry]
All work must have the author's name, email address, and mailing address.
ENTRY FEE
Entry Fee should be in U.S. funds only; it is non-refundable. (unless the contest is declared FREE)
SECURE ONLINE payment: For your convenience, entry fee can be paid by
American Express, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal
Account at the time of contest entry through PayPal, one of
the leading online secure payment services.
You don't even need a PayPal account to use this option. (A small online processing fee is added.)
We do NOT accept personal or business checks, certified or cashier's check, or money order.
Your entry fee must arrive BEFORE entry period closes.
COPYRIGHT INFORMATION
Our website - mirthwhile.com - does not retain ANY rights for
ANY entries.
You keep ownership of your submission and are free at any time to
publish it separately (especially essays), or in a collection of your
own work.
Being selected as one of the winners or 'noteworthy notables' constitutes
giving permission to mirthwhile.com to use winners' name, city, state, and winning entry for
promotional purposes.
Submitting, especially in the essay contest, gives us permission to
publish the winning or 'noteworthy notables' essays in multi-author
collection/s.
Entry also constitutes permission to archive your entries indefinitely on any webpage on this website.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
All rules are subject to review and modifications.
Entries and/or any accompanying materials will not be returned.
All submissions are FINAL - corrections to and replacements for submitted essays will not be allowed.
Your entries can be edited by us, especially if there are words in your entries
that, in our judgement, are not appropriate. If they are too crude or vulgar for
our liking, we can even decide against publishing your submission/s.
Mirthwhile.com's total liability for any claim arising from
participation in any mirthwhile.com contest or publication,
including the use of PayPal as our online payment processor, shall not
exceed the cost of one contest entry.
Mirthwhile.com reserves the right to cancel contests at any time.
We will NOT sell your mailing / email address or personal information.
Prize winners will be informed no later than 30 days from the closing date of the competition. The Noteworthy Notables will not be personally imtimated; you have to keep track of that information on our website.
Contest entrants acknowledge that no other remuneration or
compensation, except as described above, has been offered or is
expected.
If an email returns undeliverable, contest sponsors will try to contact
winners by phone or snail mail. If no contact has been made within 21
days of winning announcement, winner forfeits his/her rights to the
prize.
By submitting your essay you indicate that you have read and agree to these contest rules.
